In the last update we deployed new settings:
  • 3G/4G configuration: As PDC is now available on smartphones, now PDC asks the user if wants to download new content using 3G or not. We thought this was important because of important charges in case of big updates in the content. When the 3G/4G option is denied, PDC will only update the content when the device is connected to wifi.
  • online/offline videos: Also the user has the opportunity to decide wether he/she wants the videos to be fully downloaded in the device or to view them online. This configuration is important because videos usually need a lot of storage, and we know that some smartphones have storage troubles. If the user has enough free space, we recommend to have them offline otherwise the user will need internet connection when pretending to watch videos
Also note that if the user configures the device with the option 3G disabled (that means that PDC will not be able to use mobile data unless it is a wifi connection) and with the option of videos to be online at the same time, if the user is not connected to a wifi, PDC will not be able to show videos at all.
In any moment, this configuration can be changed in the settings screen (Menu > Settings > Data Usage). Once the "Synchronize Videos" option is enabled, PDC will download all videos. Otherwise when the option is disabled, PDC deletes all videos and show them online.
Also 3G/4G configuration can be changed in settings screen. Once it is enabled, the next update will use mobile data if needed. Once the option is disabled, any running update will be blocked until the device has an allowed connection (for example wifi).
